Barbara Caldwell, age 76, died Thursday, August 24, 2017, with family by her side at The Hospice of East Texas, Tyler.

She was born December 23, 1940, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, to the late Gordon and Mary Ferguson. She moved to the United States in 1967 and met Robert Caldwell in 1973. They were wed in 1974.

Her interests included traveling, sewing, quilting, reading and family that included eight grandchildren whom she loved so dearly. In her later years she loved socializing with the Bangle Babes, a group of ladies bent on enjoying life and making each outing a memorable event. Ultimately she enjoyed living in the Piney Woods of East Texas sitting side by side each evening with husband Robert watching a good movie or TV series.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years; son, Terry Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Susi Mitchell; stepson and spouse, Shannon and Beth Caldwell; stepdaughter and spouse, Chaney and John Ward; sisters, Judy Cunningham, Gail Pettifer; brothers, Allan Ferguson, Bruce Ferguson and Dale Ferguson.

She was predeceased by sons, Barry John Mitchell and Steven Douglas Mitchell,

Arrangements for a memorial to celebrate her life are pending and will be announced as soon as complete.
