Obituary

Graveside services for Ronald Leroy Martin, 69, of Tyler will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 1 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery, 2400 Donnybrook, Tyler, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Celebration of the Resurrection will follow at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 230 W. Rusk St., Tyler. Dr. Stuart Baskin and the Rev. Pamela Leach will be officiating with special speaker, nephew, Chris Kincheloe.
Mr. Martin passed away Wed-nesday, March 26, 2014, at The Hospice of East Texas HomePlace after a lengthy illness.
Ron was a beloved member, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Bible moderator of First Presbyterian Church. He had also been a member of Tyler Kiwanis, Freeport JCs, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Sunday school teacher at Crowley United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged in 1967.
He graduated from Floydada High School Class of 1962, Brazosport College and Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Ron worked as an insurance agent and agency manager for Texas Farm Bureau for 27 years before retiring in 2011.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Martin and Eunice P. (Truly) Martin Jones; brothers, Geston and Robert Joe. He is survived by his loving family including wife, Shirley (Rainer) Martin, of Tyler; daughter, Wendi Stewart; son-in-law, Trey Stewart; and beloved granddaughter, Morgan Stewart; all of Sugar Land; brother and sister-in-law, Garland Martin and Vickie Upton Martin; brothers, David Sechrist, of Topeka, Kan., and Preston Sechrist, of Dalhart. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, family and friends who loved Ron dearly.
Ron will be honored during both ceremonies by 21 special male friends who have loved him from childhood until now.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 28, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
