A memorial service for Roger M. Nygaard, 77, of Flint, will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Tyler with Dr. Mark Braaten officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Nygaard passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014.
He was born Nov. 30, 1936, in Webster, S.D., to Melvin Sigfred and Ruth Janette Stevenson Nygaard.
Roger worked for many years with the Chamber of Commerce as an executive vice president and president and as a development coordinator with the The Salvation Army in Grand Island, Neb. For the last six years he had worked part time at Hollytree Country Club as a marshall and starter. Roger also served as past president for the Bullard Rotary Club, was a former director of Goodwill Industries and past chairman of the board for The Institute for Organizational Management. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Tyler where he had been president of the church council for the last 2 1/2 years.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carole Timmons.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 54 years, Jean Nygaard, of Flint; children, Karen Padrucco and husband Anthony, of Bullard, Kathryn Nygaard, of Edina, Minn.; grandchildren, Joey Padrucco, of Bullard, Jaedon Nygaard, of Edina, Minn.; siblings, George Nygaard and wife Rose, of Gloucester, Va., Steven Nygaard and wife Julie, of Cresbard, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
