Services for Max Daniel Bishop, 76, of Tyler will be held Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Robert Carter and the Rev. Sam Deville officiating.
Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Bishop passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at The Hospice of East Texas.
He was born July 13, 1937, in Huntsville to Benjamin and Eunice Blair Bishop.
Mr. Bishop was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church. He served in the Army Reserve from 1958 to 1963. He then worked as a self employed paint contractor. Max was a loving husband, father and grandfather who genuinely loved people.
Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, JB, Clyde, Cecil and Herman Bishop; and his sister, Jean Smith.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 54 years, Martha Pagitt Bishop; children, Danny Bishop and wife Toni, of Whitehouse, Sherry Moses and husband Robert, of Bullard, and Brooke Dyess and husband Derek, of Tyler; grandchildren, Jared Moses and wife Michelle, of Fort Sill, Okla., Jordan Moses, of Tyler, Blake and Bradley Bishop, of Whitehouse, Dalton Dyess, of Tyler, Kelsey Moses, of Bullard, and Aubrey Grayce Dyess, of Tyler; great-grandchildren, Monroe and Ledger Moses; siblings, Glyn Bishop, of Cleveland, Sammy Bishop, of Chandler, and Elizabeth Johnson, of Cleveland.
Pallbearers will be Sgt. Jared Moses, Jordan Moses, Blake Bishop, Rocky Smith, Bryan Bishop, Charles Kinser, Mark McCarty and Kevin Clark.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kelsey Moses, Bradley Bishop, Dalton Dyess and Aubrey Dyess.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
