Funeral services for Louis L. Hooker, 95, of Tyler, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with the Rev. Pike Wisner officiating. He will be laid to rest in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery.
Louis passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, in Tyler. He was born Feb. 1, 1919, in Peoria to the late Alex and Edna Cliett Hooker. After attending college, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired as a bank officer at Citizens Bank, which is now Regions Bank of Tyler. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Tyler. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Ruth Thedford Hooker; brothers, Cliett, John Hugh, Leonard R., Billy Charles and Raymond Hooker; sister, Marguerite Rice; and a great-grandson, Blake Charles Louis Hooker.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Kellie Hooker, of San Antonio, and Don Hooker, of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Rick Featherston, of Tyler; a sister, Mary Edna Pickett, of Chandler; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Donald and Darrell Lawson, Gary, David, Charles, Jeremiah, Jacob, Justin and Chris Hooker.
The family will receive friends at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
