Lawrence J. "Dooley" Winegeart

Obituary

Graveside services for Law-rence J. "Dooley" Winegeart, will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Tyler Memorial Park with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Winegeart, age 91, a resident of Hideaway, died on July 21, 2014, and was born on April 15, 1923, in Fresno, Calif. He was raised in West Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, the former Onealya Cole, who died in 2012, as well as by his son Larry Winegeart who died in 2005.
Mr. Winegeart, a World War II veteran, served in the U.S. Army as a telegraph operator and was in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Winegeart was a partner in Reep and Winegeart Funiture Store in Paris in the 1950s, then moved to Lubbock where he was a salesman for Sentry Insurance. He retired in 1983 and moved to Hideaway. At that time, Mr. Winegeart was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by two daughters, Dr. Linda Diaconis-Roesser, of Baltimore, Md., and Lenise Shew, of Hideaway; one son, Kyle Winegeart, of Lubbock; a daughter-in-law, Martha Winegeart-Miller, of Hideaway; four grandsons; five granddaughters; four great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
The family appreciates the care given by Barbara Schmucker and the nurses at The Hospice of East Texas.
