Heaven's gates opened on Saturday, June 21, 2014, for our loving sister, daughter, cousin and friend, Kellie Burkett, of Tyler. She went with open arms surrounded by family, cousins, aunts and loving friends.
Kellie was born Sept. 10, 1960, in Tokyo, Japan. She graduated from Whitehouse High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas. Kellie's career passion was spent in operating rooms and with pediatric care. She devoted her life to caring and giving to others.
Kellie was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Abby Ann Tanner Burkett; father, Neil Burkett; and her god mother, Mrs. Linda McGregor.
Kellie is survived by her mother, Joyce Burkett, of Tyler; sisters, Tracy Burkett, formerly of Whitehouse, and Meachell Dickens, of Gresham. Kellie had an abundance of loving cousins and friends, nieces and nephews. She loved and cherished each one in her own special way.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to the Trauma doctors, ICU nursing staff and O.R. staff at Mother Frances for their dedicated medical treatment. Thank you, Darrell Miller for your instrumental part in Kellie's care.
The family will receive friends at Heritage Baptist Church in Tyler at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, with a memorial to follow at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be made to Glory Babies of Tyler, 5380 Old Bullard Road, Suite 600-122, Tyler, 75703; or www.childrenspark
