Services for Jesse Allen, 48, of Big Sandy, will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler with Dr. Doug Baker and Pastor Sonny Parsons officiating.
Burial will be in Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 2 p.m. under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Jesse Allen passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Tyler at The Hospice of East Texas.
He was born March 14, 1966, in Canton to Melven and Ivirne Lawrence Allen.
Jesse was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church where he worked as the director of security and facilities. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed travel, golf, landscape design, playing softball, riding his ATV and shopping.
Jesse served the Big Sandy community on the City Council for multiple terms and was also a charter member and chair of the local economic development corporation. He had served as a member of the volunteer fire department since 1987.
Jesse received many awards of recognition including Man of the Year and Fireman of the Year in Big Sandy. He also attained the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Jesse was preceded in death by his grandparents; and nephews, Dusty Allen and Shane Pawlowski.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 29 years, Sally Pawlowski Allen; son, Brett Harrison Allen; his parents; and siblings, Monte Allen and wife Sherry, Amy Thibodeaux and husband Rardi, and Becky Desborough and husband Greg; 19 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Monte Allen, Rardi Thibodeaux, Eric Eitel, Terry Pierce, Chris Majeau and James Ditto.
Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Reed, Johnny Snyder, Chuck Dickenson, Norman Baugher, Tim Hazelip, Donald Coe, Bobby Harrington, Russell Smith and Jeff Jones.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eternal Flame Memorial in Honor of Jesse Allen at Marvin United Methodist Church, 300 W. Erwin St., Tyler, 75702.
