Services for Jerry D. Bartos, 85, of Tyler, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in Lloyd James Funeral Home chapel with Carey Ponder officiating. Burial is in Flint Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bartos passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014, in Tyler.
He was born on July 4, 1928, in Jacksonville to the late Jerry and Verta Blansett Bartos. He attended TJC and received a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin. He was a chemist for Texas Eastman and was a member of Bascom United Methodist Church. He was an avid photographer, winning many awards for his photographs.
He is survived by his daughters, Jan Decker, of Palestine, and Virginia Smith, of Waco; grandchildren, Heather Muckleroy, of Little Rock, Ark., Amanda Black, of Whitehouse, Chris Smith, of Waco, Marcos Escobar, of Fort Worth, Cody O'Kelly, of Eagle, Colo., Kyle Smith of, Arequipa, Peru, Andrew Escobar, of Fort Worth, Adam Smith, of Duncan Okla., Megan Stanley, of San Antonio, and Shawn Decker, of Kilgore; brother, Kenneth Bartos, of Beaumont; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Bartos; daughter, Fran Stanley; and grandson, T.G. Stanley.
Pallbearers are Marcus Escobar, Andrew Escobar, Chris Smith, Adam Smith, Cody O'Kelly and Gene Muckleroy. Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Smith, Shawn Decker, Tony Black, Harry O'Kelly and Bob Thomas.
