A graveside service with military honors for Fredrick Jay "Shadow" Johnson, 64, of Chandler, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, in Whitehouse Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Thoene officiating under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors.
"Shadow" was born Sept. 30, 1949, in Tyler to J.W. and Doris Johnson, and passed away on Jan. 14, 2014, in Tyler. He served his country while in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam and then served in the United States Air Force. "Shadow" received an A.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Business Science and a B.A. in Marine Biology. He worked in security and was a Methodist. "Shadow" was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Johnson, and a daughter, Cherish Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Maria E. Johnson, of Chandler; his mother, Doris Johnson, of Tyler; a son, Michael Johnson, of Tyler; daughters, Sunshine Johnson-Wickliffe, of Combine, Elysia Forsyth, of Garland, Erica Menera, of Tyler and Sarah Kay Willis, of Watauga; and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Johnson, Jeff Connors, Roy Rogers, Jamie Cagle, Charles Fink and Michael Hull.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the graveside.
