Elizabeth "Joyce" Montgomery Bott, 90, died peacefully on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2013, in Rockwall. She was born Nov. 28, 1923, in Houston, to Thaddeus Cleveland and Aurora (Baker) Montgomery.
Joyce attended St. Anne Catholic Grade School and St. Agnes Academy High School in Houston and The University of Texas at Austin until the outbreak of World War II. Joyce was preceded in 2000 by her beloved husband, Lawrence "Larry" James Bott, whom she married in 1946 in Houston; and her sister, Madelyn Montgomery Pye.
Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Linda Bott Moon Adams and her husband Patrick Taylor Adams, of Rockwall, and Susan Bott Stokes Robinson, of Tyler.
Grandchildren include six grandsons and their wives; James Carroll "Cary" Moon and wife Michelle Wells Moon, Kevin Montgomery Moon and wife Dina Dale Moon, Jason Edward Moon, Richard "Reese" Elbert Stokes IV and wife Kathleen Woodard Stokes, Lawrence "Larry" Montgomery Stokes and wife Kathryn Kennedy Stokes and Taylor Patrick and wife Karen Lyons Adams; great-grandchildren, Garrett Wells Moon, Madelyn Ann Moon, Carter Montgomery Moon, Bailey Bott Moon, Hannah Dawn Moon, Jackson Woodard Stokes, Greyson Robert Stokes, Samuel Richard Stokes, Sutton Elizabeth Stokes and soon to arrive, Kennedy Joy Stokes.
Joyce's family knows without a doubt that lifelong friends of Joyce and Larry all over the world will always remember her high spirits, love of life and laughter and her warm embrace of family and friends with whom she shared her life. Joyce had many hobbies over the years including tennis, golf, boating, bridge and mah jongg. She was a member of a lovely garden club in Tyler and gave many dedicated hours of service to Texas Children's Hospital, Catholic Charities Guild and numerous other organizations. Larry and Joyce were charter members of Riverbend Country Club in Houston as well as members of Willow Brook Country Club and Hollytree Country Club in Tyler.
A requiem Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Rockwall. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her few years at the Arbor House in Rockwall and especially for the loving and kind care she received from hospice and those who surrounded her in her last few days.
