E.T. Boyd


Services for E.T. Boyd, 82, of Tyler, will be Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Christenberry officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Boyd passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, in Tyler. He was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Pocahontas, Ark., to William Enoch and Pearl Roach Boyd.
He was a member of the Pine Springs community, a decorated veteran and had worked for Tyler area employers Kelly-Springfield, Carrier and The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler after serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and helped establish local fishing groups and clubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 55 years, Ruthie Boyd, of Tyler; two sons, Mark Boyd, of Garland, and Myles Boyd, of Quinlan; two daughters, Twyla Odom, of Tyler, and Deborah Anne "Amber" Davis, of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, James Terry, of Sallisaw, Okla.; two sisters, Cona Gean McCoy, of Van Buren, Ark., and Wyvonee Williams, of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark Boyd, Myles Boyd, Eric Boyd, Christopher Boyd, Richard Boyd and Joshua Odom.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Jennings, Bill Odom, Chester Davis, Clark Johns, Tim Doss, Philip Kemp and Alton Ridgeway.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler.
