Obituary

A graveside service for Darold E. Parker, 90, of Murchison is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday at Oaklawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Murchison, with the Rev. Brooks Taylor officiating.
Mr. Parker passed away Dec. 27, 2013, in Tyler.
He was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Brownsboro to Felix Erwin and Gladys Fowler Parker. Darold was a graduate of Brownsboro High School and graduated Henderson County Junior College with an associate degree. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He married Mary Virginia Saxon in 1944. Darold was a chief mechanic for Nipak and Lone Star Gas for 35 years. He was a 60-year 32nd degree Mason of the Brownsboro Masonic Lodge. He had a sense of humor that was a delight to everyone he encountered. He and Mary spent many years RVing and traveling.
Darold was preceded in death by his wife Mary, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include sons, David Parker and wife Mahlon, Bullard, Paul Parker and wife Sue, Lufkin; grandchildren, Daniel and Amy Parker, Darren and Karee Parker, Dana and Travis Evans, Shannon and John Mattingly; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Cleburne Shavor, Lawrence Dunn, Mike Hill, Foy Magee, Delton Worley and Eddie Pirtle.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 6632 Texas Highway 31 East, Murchison, 75778.
