1924 ~ 2013
"Chuck" Goode was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Dallas to Solon and Virginia Lee Swindells Goode, who preceded him in death, as did his sister, Carroll Knox, and special nephew, Mark Spangler. He went to heaven on July 15, 2013.
He temporarily leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Lindy; his son, Charlie, of Salida, Colo.; and his daughters, Lynn Arrigoni and husband Fred, of Greenwood, S.C., and Ginny Phelps, of Tyler. He also has grandchildren, Drew Arrigoni and Nick Arrigoni, of Atlanta, Ga., Heather Rains and husband Wallace, of Sherman, and Brian Phelps and wife Sherry, of Columbia, S.C.; and honorary grandson, Neil Spangler. He is also succeeded by his greatly loved great-granddaughters, Hannah, Sarah and Karah Rains; two cousins; two nieces; one nephew; and his beloved pet, Bailee Beagle.
He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1946 aboard the USS Porterfield 662. He also loved trout fishing at their home in Salida, Colo. He served as a deacon and elder in the Presbyterian Church USA.
Services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Tyler, with pastors the Rev. Dr. Stuart Baskin, the Rev. Dr. Bill Swegart and the Rev. Joe Sutterlin officiating.
