Services for Charles "Duby" Dewberry, 61, Tyler, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at St. Louis Baptist Church with the Rev. Londa Davis officiating.
Mr. Dewberry died Jan. 30, 2014, in San Antonio.
He was born July 5, 1952, in Hubbard to the late Naomi Wil-liams Dewberry and Spiel Maurice Dewberry. He attended TISD schools and was an "all around star athlete" at Emmett J. Scott High School. He transitioned to Robert E. Lee High School and was on the fast track to becoming a professional athlete until a knee injury cut his chances short. He graduated in 1971 and enlisted in the Navy.
On Dec. 18, 1972, Charles married his high school sweetheart, Coreathia Robinson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Elbert Dewberry.
Survivors include six children, Annette Robinson (Timmy Brookins), Charletta Kilbourne (Will Crowe), all of Cedar Hill, Tiyodi Taylor (Melina), of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Christopher Blalock, of Houston, Teryn Stanley (Andrea San Nicholas), and Maurice Dewberry, all of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, one brother, all of Tyler; and a host of other relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.
Visitation will follow service at the church.
