Memorial services for Carl Donald Adams, 93, of Tyler, will be on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Carter officiating.
A private family burial will be prior to the service in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery in Tyler under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Adams passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at The Hospice of East Texas.
He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Chandler to Carl Bryan and Attis Mae Allen Adams. Carl was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Tyler.
Mr. Adams served in the Merchant Marine in World War II. He loved hunting, fishing and skeet-shooting and was incredibly mechanical, being able to fix anything.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 17 years, Opal Faye Adams, of Tyler; son, William Donald Adams, of Tyler; daughters, Marsha Delong, of Bozeman, Mont., and Donna Thurman, of Auckland, New Zealand; stepdaughters, Judy Mey, of Whitehouse, and Teresa Gibbons, of Grand Prairie; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Milton Adams, of Tyler.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
