Mr. Billy Joe "Bill" Douglas, 87, of Troup, passed away July 4, 2014, at his residence after a brief illness.
Funeral service for Mr. Douglas will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel in Troup, with interment to follow at the Salem Cemetery near Troup.
Billy was born March 15, 1927, in Hunt County, to the late Hulon E. and Fannie White Douglas. He retired as a supervisor from Rockwell International after several years of service, he also served in the United States Army during World War II, and he was a member of Carrollton First Baptist Church.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma Marie Douglas; son, Daniel Douglas; grandson, Josh Douglas; siblings, Preble McKinney, Syble Decker, Dalton Douglas, Don Douglas, Valda Blazer and Pat Martin.
Billy is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Douglas and wife Paula, of Troup, Bryan Douglas and wife Joanna, of Carrollton, David Douglas and wife Gayle, of Krum; sister: Freida Perry, of Georgia; grandchildren, Ben Douglas, Davy Douglas and Cara Douglas, Jimmy Don Ludlam, Caleb Ludlam, Tim Taylor, Toby Taylor and Teddy Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jacob Douglas, Miranda Taylor, Dylan Taylor, Isaac Douglas, Elizabeth Ludlam, Lillian McCann-Ludlam, T.K. Taylor, Kaitlyn Taylor, Erin McNulty and Aidan McCann.
The family will receive family and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
