Archie Lowell Wood, 89, of Chandler passed away on Feb. 20, 2014.

He was born in Graysonia, Ark., on June 30, 1924, to the late Archie and Essie Wood. Lowell graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and received a bachelor's degree in science from Louisiana State University in 1949. He was married to the late Carolyn Haeuser Wood.
Lowell served in the in the 8th Air Force, during World War II as lead navigator and group leader for the 525th Squadron. He served in the European Theater and navigated in 22 bombing missions over Germany. Lowell was a petroleum geologist for more than 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy Wood and Delos Wood.
Lowell is survived by his sister and spouse, John and Shirley Baker, of Searcy Ark.; and brother and spouse, Charles and Joan Wood, of Mobile Ala.; three children and spouses, Richard and Margaret Griffin, of Tyler, Jim and Patricia Wood, of Melbourne Beach, Fla., and John Wood, of Chandler. He is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
