W.C. Brooks

Funeral services for W.C. Brooks, 83, Athens, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Athens, with the Rev. L.L. Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.

Mr. Brooks died Nov. 6, 2012, in Canton.

He was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Tyler. He graduated from Stanton High School and was a 30-plus year resident of Henderson County. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Tyler. He was a truck driver and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Wallystene Brooks, Athens; one son, Edgar Stewart, Athens; three daughters, Walla Cumby (Henry), Renice Sherman (Joe) and LaShun Moore (Keevin), all of Athens; three grandchildren, ShaKevia Moore, Aaliyah Moore and Aamiyah Moore, all of Athens; and one niece, Lanesia Pennington, Tyler.
