Thomas O. Jordan

Services for Thomas O. Jordan, 82, of Tyler will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Bratz officiating.

A private burial will be held in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Jordan passed away Feb. 27, 2013, in Tyler.

He was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on May 13, 1930, to George Washington and Omar Elizabeth Kersh Jordan.

Tom received his BA from Texas A&M in 1951. He was a certified flight instructor at Tyler Pounds Field. Tom served in the United States Army and retired as lieutenant colonel. He also retired from the Tyler Chamber of Commerce and CASA of Smith County. Tom was active in his community and was a member of the Kiwanis and Rotary Club of Tyler as well as working with the United Way. He was even voted a volunteer of the year.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Shelba Jordan.

He is survived by his loving family including daughters, Mary Hurley and husband Jeff, and Margaret Theiring and husband Johnny; and grandchildren, Dan-iel, Sarah, Patrick, Samuel, Ben and wife Bethany, Drew, Sydney, Amanda, Jason and Trevor Luke.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
