Thomas N. Beall Sr.

Services for Thomas N. Beall Sr. will be at 11a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Hilliard Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Lloyd and the Rev. Shelby Davidson officiating.

A graveside service will follow in Edom Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hilliard Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday.

Mr. Beall went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 93 on Nov. 7, 2012, in Tyler.

Thomas Nelson Beall Sr. was born June 5, 1919, in Edom to the late Sydney Coltharp Beall and Rosa Bell Phillips Beall. He had been a resident of Edom all of his life, except for the four years he spent in the military. Thomas played basketball and baseball for Brownsboro High School, and was given an invitation to play baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played baseball for the 403rd Bomboniere Division All-Star Team. He stayed involved in baseball organizations throughout his life in the Edom and Tyler areas. Thomas served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 in the 403rd Bomboniere Division as a staff sergeant during World War II in the South Pacific. He worked as a mechanic for King Chevrolet, and then worked as a set-up man for G.E. and Trane. After retirement, he worked in the hay business for more than 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Robert Beall, Roy Beall, Horris Beall, John Bryant Beall, Bernice Davidson, Lola Mae Smith, Louise Cole and Grace Laverne; and great-grandson, Kyler Anderson Kirby.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 66 years, Francine Beall of Edom; five children, Barbara Gill and husband Don of Montana, Tommy Beall and wife Debby of Edom, David Beall and wife Tammy of Brownsboro, Jana Yancey and husband Ronnie of Tyler, and Terry Beall and wife Joyce of Edom; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Danny Beall, Lynn Beall, Wes Moss, Matt Malone, Mikel Kirby and Bryan Cruce. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Beall, Neil Gandy, Steven Richardson, Stephen Gill, Bryan Gill and Whitney Yancey and nephews.
