Sam Elsol Hymer

Sam Elsol Hymer of Tyler went to be with God on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, after a long illness. He was born May 26, 1928, in Plain Dealing, La., to Sam W. and Ruby Hymer.

A brief service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard, followed by visitation. The Rev. Joe Roach will be officiating.

Sam Elsol was raised a Christian in the Baptist church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Boyce Hymer.

Sam Elsol graduated from New London High School, attended Kilgore Junior College and graduated in 1955 from Texas A&M University, College Station. He was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Goodyear Tyler plant. He served in the Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1949 in Germany.

He is survived by his sister, Nellie Sheldon of Gatesville; children, Nancy Owens and spouse Dickie Owens of White Oak, Rhonda Lisa Hymer of Tyler, Stephen Elsol Hymer of Phoenix, Ariz., Carol Sue and Sammy D. Hymer, both of Whitehouse; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and aides with Colonial Tyler and The Hospice of East Texas for their loving care of their daddy.
