Russell D. Anderson Jr.

A memorial service will be held for Russell D. "Rusty" Anderson Jr. on June 17, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Monsignor Don Diegel and Monsignor John Flynn officiating.
Mr. Anderson passed away at the age 74 on June 6, 2013, in Tyler.
Russell Dale Anderson Jr. was born April 20, 1939, in Parson, Kan., to the late Russell Dale Anderson Sr. and Helen Nadine Roush Anderson. He married Ruddie Marie Soukup in West on Jan. 16, 1965. Rusty had been a resident of Holly Lake Ranch since 1994, formerly living in Irving. He grew up in Harlingen where he graduated from high school in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy as a second-class radioman onboard the icebreaker USS Burton Island when deployed in the Bellingshausen Sea. He served two years in the reserves after his four-year term in the Navy. He worked for Union Carbide in Port Brownsville before becoming an air traffic controller at the Fort Worth Air Traffic Control Center. He was with the FAA until 1981. He retired from the IRS in December of 1994, after years of working as a computer analyst. He attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church, was a former volunteer firefighter for Holly Lake Ranch, and a member of the Holly Lake Men's Golf Association.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ruddie Marie Soukup Anderson, of Holly Lake Ranch; sons, Daniel Anderson and wife Myra, of Prosper, and Darin Anderson and wife April, of Trophy Club; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Mackenzie, Sarah, Cooper, Emily, Harlon and Coston Anderson; brother, James Anderson and wife Sandie, of Flower Mound; sister-in-law, Mildred Dokupil and husband William, of West; aunt, Mrs. Mary Emden, of San Antonio; and many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor for his grandson, Cooper: The Daniel Cooper Anderson Medical Benefit Trust, c/o American Bank of Texas, P.O. Box 1150, Prosper, 75078.
