Robert T. "'Tom'" Oxford

Services for Robert T. "Tom" Oxford, 76, of Tyler will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Josh Green, the Rev. Dave Trader and the Rev. Steve Pelz officiating.
Burial will follow in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Oxford passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 21, 1937, in Stamps, Ark., to Paul and Linnie Andrews Oxford.
Tom was a member of Southern Oaks Baptist Church in Tyler. He became an ordained deacon of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Dallas in 1964. He graduated from Stamps High School. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He met and married Sarah Ann Loper in 1960 in Athens and they moved to Tyler in 2001. Robert worked for B.F. Goodrich and Ameripol-Synpol.
He was a faithful Christian who loved and trusted his Lord. Tom was loved and cherished by his family and was proud of them. He loved gardening and shared the love of growing things with everyone.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by brothers, Glen and J.L. Oxford; and sisters, Adolphus Beasley, Margaret Burris and Marial Turley.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 53 years, Sarah Ann Loper Oxford, of Tyler; daughter, Nancy Trader and husband David, of Texarkana, Ark.; sons, Edward Paul Oxford, of Long Beach, Calif., Timothy Oxford and wife Bonnie, of Tomball and Mark Oxford and wife Laurel, of Rockville, Va.; grandchildren, Tricia McKnight and husband Josh, of Texarkana, Ark., Katie, Kristin and Chloe Oxford, all of Spring; brothers, Jim Oxford and wife Mari Beth, of Flint, and Ed Oxford and wife Betty, of Waco.
Pallbearers will be Danny Jackson, David French, Don Nichols, Arlin Harris, Reynard McGaffey and Dean Loper.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
