He leaves behind his wife of eight years, Carolyn; sons, Glenn and wife Fon, Greg and wife D'Lisa; and grandchildren, Dakota, Sierra and Savanna. There are several cousins on the West Coast. He also left two "bonus" grandchildren, Jaesa and Athen, as well as Carolyn's five children and their families.
Dick graduated from Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore., with a degree in physics and math. After entering the Air Force, his father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, so Dick went back to Seattle to care for his parents. During that time he did graduate work at the University of Washington in physics.
Dick began his professional career in Texas, and spent many years working as an engineer in fiber optics. While working for Varo he had extensive contracts with the Department of Defense. Dick is the author of several patents. He had a deep love of technology.
Dick loved family and friends, but the greatest love of his life was his Savior Jesus Christ.
There will be a memorial celebration of his life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Grace Fellowship Church in Flint.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the youth department at Grace Fellowship Church.
