Mrs. Kidd passed away Feb. 4, 2013, under the care of The Hospice of East Texas. She was born Nov. 16, 1936, in Longview to Samuel Amon and Elizabeth Allen Trant.

Patsy lived in Tyler most of her life. She acquired many lifelong friends through junior high and high school. Patsy was a swimmer and was in many swim competitions for most of her younger years and set many records at city, state and national levels. In 1956, while attending the University of Hawaii, Patsy trained for the Olympics.

Patsy was a member of the Junior League of Tyler and many other women's clubs during the 1950s and '60s and also participated in the Tyler Rose Festival as a lady-in-waiting. She attended SMU, TJC and the University of Hawaii. She received her nursing license and had a 25-year nursing career.

In 1958, Patsy married Lee Kidd and they had three children. She was an accomplished author who published two children's books, "Puppy Breath" and "Powdery Gray." She loved animals, working, traveling, reading and swimming. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her passion. She enjoyed slumber parties and girl trips.

Patsy loved Jesus more than anything though, and she would share that love with the many Jesus lessons she would give her children. As a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, she attended many Bible studies and volunteered wherever she was needed. With the enjoyment of writing, Patsy would send cards to Sunday school members, friends and family for all occasions.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving family, including her children, Kimberly Kidd Maddox and husband Tim, Lex L. Kidd and wife Holly and Trant L.
