Leland L. "Tex" Greer

Services for Leland L. "Tex" Greer, 87, of New London are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Gary Langford officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, New London.

Mr. Greer died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at his residence. He was born June 16, 1925, in Woodward, Okla., to the late Glen R. and Jewell Stone Greer. He was a resident of Henderson prior to moving to New London 30 years ago.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on three different ships. He retired as a mechanic for Hale Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Henderson.

Mr. Greer served on the New London City Council for four years and was a member of the Hall Brothers VFW Post No. 9185, Overton.

Mr. Greer was a member of Overton Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Joshua Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, John Franklin Greer.

He married Gaynell Robertson, Feb. 10, 1984, in Henderson.

Survivors include his wife, Gaynell Robertson Greer of New London; two sons, Danny Vinson of New London and Mark Vinson of Henderson; two brothers, Laven Greer and Gary Joe Greer, both of Pampa; seven grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hall Brothers VFW Post No. 9185, Overton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7.
