Jeryl W. Story

Memorial services for Jeryl Story are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Marvin United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dr. Doug Baker and Dr. Ron Wells officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.
Jeryl passed away at home from cancer. He was born July 18, 1951, to the late Ada and Elvis Story. He grew up in Buffalo, Texas, and helped with the family cattle business. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and later from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Jeryl began his career at Southside Bank in 1979 after being an examiner with the Texas Department of Banking. He served as a director, senior executive vice president of loan administration and as the senior lending officer since 1996. Since 2000, he also served as executive vice president of Southside Bancshares Inc., and since 2010, as senior executive vice president.
Jeryl loved being outdoors whenever possible. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in East and South Texas as well as in South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique and Brazil. Almost as much as going hunting, Jeryl loved to talk about hunting and any equipment related to hunting. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends, both at home and on his travels.
Jeryl was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Sean. He is survived by his wife Kathy; brother, Terry, of Buffalo, Texas; and his beloved godchildren and many dear friends
