James W. Vernon

Graveside services for Mr. James W. Vernon, age 76, of Hideaway are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Memory Park Cemetery in Longview with the Rev. Marion Burgess officiating. Services are under direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale.

Mr. Vernon died on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in a Tyler hospital. He was born on Jan. 15, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was formerly of Dallas before moving to Hideaway in 2000. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from Texas Instruments, now Raytheon, in 1996 after 32 years of service. Mr. Vernon was a member of the Swan-Wood Springs United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Vernon of Hideaway; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Geraldine Vernon of Farmers Branch and Cleve and Joan Whiddon of Garland; daughter, Kimberly O'Brien of Houston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dale and Jimmie Sullivan of Visalia, Calif.; grandchildren, Eli Vernon of Farmers Branch and Phillip Whiddon of Garland; and great-grandson, Graeson Mozley of Sherman.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.
