James Henry Brazier

Funeral services for James Henry Brazier, age 92, of New Summerfield, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Vernon Lee and Dr. Edwin Crank officiating. Interment will be in Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Ponta.
Mr. Brazier passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014, in Tyler.
He was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Lone Star.
James was a Shriner, 32nd Degree Mason and served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He worked in the oilfield for 42 years, and of those years, the last 29 years for Teledyne Movible Off Shore Oil Co., where he retired as vice president of operations. He was in charge of offshore rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and Southeast Asia. James wildcatted some on his own, finding three small fields - two in South Texas and one in Northeast Tennessee. He was a pilot and began flying when he was 15 years old. He owned his own plane and thoroughly loved flying. He also loved golf, life and his family. James was a devout Christian and loved the Lord.
James attended Ponta High School and SMU.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Manila Brazier; first wife of 66 years, Margaret Brazier; son, Tony William Brazier; and brother, Billy Brazier.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Ann Brazier, of New Summerfield; daughter-in-law, Jan Brazier, of Jacksonville; grandson, Scott Brazier, of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Nedra Brazier, of New Summerfield; nieces, Pam Brazier and Paula Davis, both of New Summerfield; several stepchildren, step grandchildren; and step great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin on Monday, May 12, 2014, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Memorials donations can be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation or Myrtle Springs Cemetery Association.
