James Edward Parks

Funeral services for James Edwards Parks, 55, Houston, formerly of Tyler, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Hopewell Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Efrem Collins officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Community Funeral Home of Tyler.

Mr. Parks died March 18, 2013, in Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

He was born Nov. 27, 1957, in Tyler and had resided the last 35 years in Houston. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and The University of Texas at Tyler. He was a member of Hopewell Valley Baptist Church and a retired TDCJ correctional officer at Sugar Land.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Lee Parks, and stepfather, Leroy Brown.

Survivors include sons, Edric Parks and Brandon Parks, both of Dallas, Demorris Parks and Dewaylus Parks, both of Tyler; mother, Mary Parks Brown, Tyler; special friend, Renita Hunter, Houston; brother, Gary Parks, Tyler; and sisters, Sharron (Larry) Martin, and Carolyn (Larry) Yarbrough, all of Tyler.
