Hazel Pearle Richter Wilson, 99, a resident of Tyler since 1955, died Dec. 12, 2013. She was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Carthage, N.Y., to the late Frank J. and C. Isabelle Richter. She graduated from the University of Rochester New York School of Nursing in 1936. Hazel received further education from Columbia University and a master's degree from The University of Texas
at Tyler. She taught nursing in several schools, including Texas Eastern School of Nursing in Tyler.
She married the love of her life, W. Stanley Wilson, on May 28, 1942. Hazel was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husband; brother; and a nephew.
She is survived by a son, William "Bill" Wilson and his wife Leslie; daughter, Louise Darcey, and her husband Chester, of College Station; and daughter, Ruth Phillips. Hazel has six grandchildren, Larry and Jen Darcey, Jim Pat and Jodi Darcey, Marian and Rick Reicht, Janet and Christopher Moore, Vicki and Andrew Moore, and Coleen and Jay Sedberry; and 13 great-grandchildren. Hazel enjoyed traveling, her Bible circle, playing bridge, gardening, her friends and neighbors, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private graveside will be held under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. A private memorial service and celebration of Hazel's life will be at First Presbyterian Church chapel with the Rev. Dr. Stuart Baskin and Pam Leach of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
