Floyd Wilson Mayes

Floyd Wilson Mayes, age 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Tyler. He was born on Wednesday, April 22, 1925, in Drumwright, Okla., to the late Floyd and Gertrude Mayes. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He joined the United States Air Force in 1954 and served there until he retired in 1971. After his retirement he owned an automotive repair business. He was a member of MacArthur Boulevard Baptist Church in Irving.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Mayes of Mineola; a son, Floyd Weldon Mayes and wife Cari of Las Vegas, Nev., and David Brian Mayes and wife Kelly of Hickory Creek; a daughter, Barbara Jean Griffin of Bastrop; a sister, Wanda Jean Mayes Laird of Kilgore; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation for Mr. Mayes will be on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, from noon to 2 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola.

Funeral services will be held following visitation at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola with the Rev. Craig Lacy officiating.

Burial will be in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at 11:30 a.m.
