Edwin Knight

Services for Edwin Knight will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Pruitt Baptist Church with the Rev. David McNary officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Pruitt Baptist Church. Graveside services will be in Bradford Cemetery in Troup at 4:30 p.m. under direction of Hilliard Funeral Home, Van.

Mr. Knight passed away at the age of 85 on Jan. 23, 2013, at his home in Van.

Edwin Nathan Knight was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Smith County. He had been a resident of Van since 1971, formerly living in Troup. He worked in oil field construction, and operated Knight Lease Service until his retirement in 1988. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, loved to fish and hunt in earlier years, and was a member of Pruitt Baptist Church. He married his wife, Juanita Littlefield, on April 3, 1948.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Dalton Knight and Molly Pearl Brown Knight; three sisters, Alice Pearl Brown, Peggy Ross and Nell Pack; and one brother, Houston Mattox.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Juanita Knight of Van; son, Ronald Knight of Van; and son and daughter-in-law, Charles David and Myra Knight of Van; brother and sister-in-law, Carol and Fern Knight of Crockett; sister-in-law, Edna Mattox of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
