Edgar Wilson ""Big Daddy"" Nutt

Edgar Wilson "Big Daddy" Nutt, 91, Tyler, re-joined his Heavenly Father Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Colonial Nursing Center in Lindale.
Services to celebrate a life well lived will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home in Tyler. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the same location.
His family would ask that he be remembered for his unsinkable good nature, ability to always find the funny in life, and his unfaltering integrity. He was humor, fun, temper and cleverness dressed up in a pair of threadbare red coveralls. He will be sorely missed.
Wilson was born July 29, 1922, in Corsicana to Bufford Hunter Nutt and Gary Belle Wilson Nutt. He served his country in World War II by joining the Coast Guard. In May of 1943 he married the love of his life, Catherine Thompson, and they resided in Corsicana until 1949 when they moved permanently to Tyler. They were blessed with two children, Cathy Ann and Donald Hunter.
Wilson was involved in the building of the Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. plant in 1962 and remained with the company as a maintenance electrician for the rest of his career, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed his retirement by traveling with the Good Sam Club, watching old westerns, singing at church and regaling his grandchildren with many fantastical tall tales.
He was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He and his family were longtime members at Wesley United Methodist Church but in later years, Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church became Wilson's spiritual home.
He is survived by his spouse of 70 years, Catherine Nutt, of Tyler; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Tommy Darden, of Lindale; son, Don Nutt, of Tyler; his grandchildren, Lisa and Brian Baker, of Arlington, Shaun and Roger Pigsley, of Sugar Land, Jeff and Dawn Darden, of Lindale, Dax Nutt, of Tyler, Jade and Heath Ginn, of Lindale, and Clayton Nutt, of Tyler; and his 10 great-grandchildren.
