Funeral services for Doyle Adison Claiborne, age 88, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Autry Funeral Home chapel in Jacksonville with Bill Claiborne and the Rev. Dr. Vernon Lee officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Doyle Adison Claiborne passed away in Tyler on Dec. 27, 2013. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Claiborne Sr. on April 14, 1925, in Jacksonville.
Doyle served as a sergeant in the 1375th Army Air Forces Base Unit North Atlantic Wing Air Transport Command during World War II
, stationed in Presque Isle, Maine. Upon his return to Jacksonville, he began working as an electrician, eventually owning his own business, Claiborne Electric Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville for 78 years. He was a former secretary/treasurer of the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Department, serving over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and LaVisa Cone Claiborne; brother, Dennis Claiborne Jr.; and sister, Bernice Brent.
Doyle is survived by his wife of 64 years, Delores T. Claiborne; their sons, Bill Claiborne and wife Shasta, of McKinney, Robbie Claiborne and wife Mona, of Tyler; a sister-in-law, Janice Taylor, of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He has several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Casey Claiborne, Marcus Claiborne, Damon Hensley, Ryan Gerbrandt, Chad Taylor and Brad Taylor.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
