Christine Murphy Caudle

Christine Murphy Caudle, a native of Tyler and Smith County and a 1948 graduate of Tyler High School, joined God in Heaven on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Born Dec. 25, 1931, in Tyler, she was the daughter of the late John E. Murphy Sr. and Gertie Clark Murphy and a sister to nine brothers and sisters, three of which survive her. She grew up in the First Assembly of God Church in Tyler and worked in Corpus Christi for many years after graduation, before joining GMAC (General Motors) where she remained until retirement. Her siblings who preceded her in death were Coach Jack V. Murphy, John E. Murphy Jr., Louise Ayers, Helen Ruth Garrett, Sue Campbell Lamphier and Betty Jean Murphy.
Survivors include her loving family of a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Tina Weaver of New Chapel Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Mike Hilliard, of Tyler; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy W. and Carolyn Murphy, Don R. and Sharon Murphy and Billy Pat Murphy, all of Tyler; stepchildren, Lee Caudle and wife Venetia and Sam Caudle and wife Lisa and all of their children; three grandchildren, Christi Dickson and husband Mark, of Troup, Samantha Weaver, of Austin, and Clint Weaver, of College Station; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Reagan Rogers.
Christine was an outgoing, loving and a giving person. She stayed in close contact with a group of her high school friends that met weekly for dinner. She loved to travel, especially to the beach with her friends. The highlight of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.
Pallbearers will be Keith Murphy, Clint Weaver, Bill Turman, Johnny Hawkins, Randy Murphy and Kelly Hinds. Honorary pallbearers are John Dale Murphy and Dr. Mac Moseley.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with the Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating.
She will be laid to rest in Bascom Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
