Services for Charles V. Hays, 91, of Ben Wheeler, are scheduled for 10 am Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at First Baptist Ben Wheeler with the Rev. Jerry Hays officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Burial will be in Edom Cemetery, Edom.
He passed away Nov. 3, 2013, in Tyler.
Mr. Hays was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Ben Wheeler to Earnest Leabon and Susie Lea Jones Hays.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ben Wheeler. Charles served in the U.S. Marine Corps
during World War II
. He retired from Alton Box Board after 27 years and then became a vegetable farmer for the Tyler Farmer's Market. He was a deacon and a choir member for several years. Mr. Hays was preceded in death by his son, Charles Michael Hays; brother, Paul Hays; and two sisters, Noma Malloy and Ruth Brewer.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Wanda Hays, of Ben Wheeler; three sons, Jerry and Sue Hays, of Farmers Branch, Steve and Kathleen Hays, of Farmers Branch, and Mark and Leslie Hays, of Tyler; daughter-in-law, Jackie Hays, of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and special friends, Terry and Kay Kilburn.
Family will receive friends Monday 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
