Bobby Stratton

Graveside services for Bobby E. Stratton, age 86, of Chandler are scheduled for 10 a.m. in Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy with Bro. Danny Bristow, associate pastor of Rock Hill Baptist Church, officiating on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. Visitation will be at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles Ray Stratton.
Mr. Stratton was born in Big Sandy on Feb. 8, 1927, to James and Irene Stratton. He passed away on July 1, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dora Ann Stratton; sister, Shirley Oliver; daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Jerry Minter; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Don Wallace; three grandchildren, Bobby Smotherman and wife Dana, Tammy Moore and husband Matt, and John Wallace and wife Kathleen; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Tyler High School and volunteered for the Navy at the age of 17, serving in World War II. He attended TJC after returning from the service and was a fifth-generation master carpenter and staircase builder.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Minter, Don Wallace, Bobby Smotherman, John Wallace, David Wallace, Charles Clayton, CR Clayton and Matt Moore.
