Billy Joe Dutton

Services for Billy Joe Dutton will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Hilliard Funeral Home with the Rev. Reggie Day officiating. A graveside service will be in Garden Valley Cemetery following the services. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Mr. Dutton passed away at the age of 83 on Nov. 6, 2013, in Tyler.
Billy Joe Dutton was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Indian Gap to the late Joe Dutton and Merlyn Inez Strain Dutton. He had been a resident of Garden Valley most of his life. He retired from the Dallas Fire Department in 1980, and worked as a water systems operator for Carroll Water Supply and Duck Creek Water. He served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy, fighting in the Korean War. As a tail-gunner on a B-29, he flew on 55 bombing missions. He was a member of Garden Valley Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Suzzette Dutton; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Dutton.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lena Dutton, of Garden Valley; children, Mike Dutton and wife Norma, of Garden Valley, Tim Guinn, of Lake Palestine, Lynnette Priest and husband Mike, of Lindale, and Robby Dutton and wife Penny, of Garden Valley; brother, Jimmy Don Dutton and wife Anita, of Pruitt; grandchildren, Amanda, Donny, Natali, Isaac, Luke, Andrea, Gabriel, Andrew, Ashley, Timothy, Felicia, Ezekiel, John Luke, Elijah, Heather, Geoffrey, Richard, Gage, Zachary and Tyrel; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Van Volunteer Fire Department or Lindale Volunteer Fire Department.
