Lloyd Stephen "Steve" Shipp, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Steve was born on July 18, 1935, in Beeville to R.E. and Florence Shipp. He grew up in the oil fields of Iraan, Texas, attended Schreiner College for his freshman year, graduated from The University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in 1959, and was honored for remaining active in the profession for more than 50 years. Steve was employed by Brookshire Grocery Co., at the time of his death.
Steve was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Eugenia Shipp. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughters, Keli Phillips and husband Robert, Sandra Murray and husband Brady, Laurie Ann Frank and husband Stanley; grandchildren, Brandon Phillips and wife Karly, who are expecting the first great-granddaughter, Adam Phillips, Zachary Murray and Trevor Murray; sister, Janet Graves; and brother, Luke Shipp and wife Connie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service in celebration of Steve's life will be Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 230 W. Rusk St., Tyler.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to First Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, 230 W. Rusk St., Tyler, 75701; or The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701.
