Memorial services for Phyllis Ann Hedricks, 56, will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Deville officiating.

Phyllis was born May 9, 1956, in Tyler to Billy Herschel and Robinell McClain Hedricks. She graduated from John Tyler High School in 1974 and went on to receive her BS in education from Baylor University in 1978. She later attended The University of Texas at Tyler, graduating with a master's in education/educational administration.
Phyllis taught for a number of years for Houston ISD and then returned to her alma mater, John Tyler High School, as a teacher in the social studies department where she served several years as department chair. She retired on Jan. 18, 2013.
By far her greatest passions were her two alma maters, John Tyler High School and Baylor University.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Tom and Sammie McClain, Goodloe and Estelle Hedricks; and brother, Stephen Hedricks. Phyllis is survived by her Aunt Margie Hedricks, of Flint; Uncle Joe McClain and his wife Rosemary, of Tyler; numerous cousins; and many friends, colleagues and students who loved her.
Pallbearers are Kent McClain, Bobby Jones, Mark Jones, Chip McClain, David Chrietzberg, Jimmy Hicks, John Leonard and Johnny Speake.
Honorary pallbearers are current and former students of John Tyler High School.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to First Baptist Church of Flint or The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701.
