Funeral services for Mildrene Anderson-Edwards, 64, of Tyler are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Miles Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Willie McCallister officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Brooks-Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors, Tyler.
Ms. Edwards died May 18, 2013, in Tyler.
She was born April 22, 1949, in Tyler to the late Myles and Charity Anderson. She was a graduate of Emmett J. Scott High School, Huston-Tillotson University, Texas College and East Texas State University. She was a member of Miles Chapel CME Church where she sang in the Inspirational Choir. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and a volunteer at Tyler Public Library. She was a retired teacher with 29 years of service in the Tyler Independent School District.
She was preceded in death by her son, Cedric Leigh Edwards.
Survivors include her brother, Milton Anderson (Willie Jean); uncle, Alvin Anderson (Juanita); aunts, Callie Woods, Clara Gordon, Iris B. Anderson; and two grandchildren, Jeremia Myles Edwards and Charity Amani Edwards.
Viewing will be from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. service will be at 6 p.m.
