Mitchell N. Denson passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Mother Frances Hospital. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Strong Memorial Cemetery in Slocum. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mitchell was born Aug. 8, 1926, to Viola and Lester Denson. He was a graduate of Slocum High School and attended Texas A&M. He served in World War II in the Asiatic Pacific and received the Bronze Star. As a corporal, he received the World War II Victory Medal while stationed in Okinawa. He worked for Anderson County and Temple Eastex for over 30 years.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Viola Denson; infant daughter, Nora Gail Denson; brothers, Harold and Charles Denson; and granddaughter, Kassie Denson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jo Ann Irvin Denson; two daughters, Shirley and husband Gil Jeandron, Rhonda and husband Dr. Frank Reuter Jr.; four sons, Joe Denson and wife Emily, Lester Denson, John Denson and wife Debbie, and Judd Denson, 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Mitchell Denson, Stephen Sellers, Jay Denson, William Reuter and Matthew Jeandron, and nephews ,Gary Denson and Terry Denson.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bailey & Foster in Palestine.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elkhart Oaks Care Center.
